I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912

Written by Lauren Tarshis

A book for readers in grades 3 and up reviewed by Christian

I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic is about a boy named George, who is traveling with his little sister and aunt on the Titanic. George happily explores the Titanic. But, when the ship hits an iceberg, everything goes haywire.

This book was interesting because I watched the Titanic movie with Leonardo DiCaprio and loved it. Lauren Tarshis’ vivid descriptions were amazing. It felt as if she had been on the Titanic herself.

I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 takes place in New Jersey in the year 1916. The main protagonist is Chet, an average kid with average friends who like to joke around. One day, a bull shark is found nearby. When swimming in the local creek, Chet comes face-to-face with the shark.

I like this book because it was cool and gave me something to do with my time. I love learning, and the information in the book was important because it detailed shark attacks that took place in our country.

I Survived Hurricane Katrina is about Barry and his family trying to flee New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina hits. But, they end up trapped, and the storm completely floods New Orleans.

I loved this book because I didn't know much about hurricanes other than Hurricane Sandy, which devastated New York. Overall, it was interesting to learn about another person's experience during a hurricane.
